Canadians are avid travelers. Whether it?s heading south for the winter, taking that dream European tour or just spending time visiting out-of-town friends and relatives, if you enjoy traveling it makes good sense to enroll in the Guaranteed Travel Assurance Plan (GTAP).
What is GTAP?
GTAP is a plan in which you can enrol with a one-time fee and you will have coverage for life if death occurs more than 100kms away from your principal residence. It is overwhelming just thinking about the logistics and paperwork your loved ones would have to go through should the unexpected happen when you are far from home. With GTAP coverage, everything will be taken care of including all arrangements and expenses with no out-of-pocket costs.
What is covered?
When you enrol, GTAP will provide the following protection for life regardless of where you are traveling or how far you are from home:
- Arrangements for preparation: embalming or cremation and transportation of the Deceased to the funeral home (near the Deceased?s legal residence)
- All details organized by professionals with technical and translation services provided
- Arrangement and payment for a travel companion to accompany the Deceased home
- If Deceased is travelling alone, plan arrangements and payment for one next of kin to travel to place of death to accompany Deceased home
- Bring pets home safely
- Bereavement support for surviving family members
How to enroll
?You can enroll through a Funeral Home such as McIntosh-Anderson-Kellam,? says John Kellam, Funeral Director of MAK Funeral Home. ?It?s one of the many services we offer.? Enrolment can happen at any age and under any health situation with no questions asked and no medical examination required. The only restriction is that members must reside in Canada and, should arrangements need to be made for you, all services must be done through GTAP.
