Take the Stress Out of Travel, Go on a Cruise

With hotel and air travel costs going up all the time people who wouldn?t originally be attracted to cruises are re-evaluating their idea of a perfect holiday.

The idea that you can walk up a gang plank and set sail, appeals to a lot of people. You don?t have to wait for your luggage at the airport or experience that horrible earache when you set off. You get on the cruise liner and that?s it. You set sail, stopping at different ports along the way, collecting souvenirs. Souvenirs that you don?t have to cram into your suitcase along with the many clothes you picked up along the way.

With more and more cruises being targeted at the younger market, cruises no longer mean that you turn into your mother or indeed father as soon as you board.

I experienced this when I was pregnant for the first time, I was dubious but my husband and I decided that, as I was in the later stages of pregnancy, it would be easier to go on a cruise.

Rather than go through the rigmarole of flights, transfers and unpacking at every hotel. That was when my love affair with cruises began.

From the moment we arrived at Southampton I was hooked. Everyone was so helpful. It was as if the whole stress of travel had been removed. Once we were on the boat I was having a Titanic moment, everything was so exciting.

I am the type of person who bores easily, so being able to move from place to place with ease (well as easily as a heavily pregnant woman can move) was a novelty.

There were also chances to relax and sit by the pool, but being able to visit several different places in one week was a brilliant change.

I think another thing which enamoured me to cruises was the fact that I could move around the boat chatting to all the other passengers, who were all very interesting. The common misconception is that cruises are full of older people. There are some older people, but the holiday was the better for it. All the people I met on the cruise were interesting and up for a laugh.

My first cruise was in 2004 and I have never looked back. We now use CruiseLineFans to explore new cruises and decide on the best holidays. The site is really helpful and full of people like me. I love cruises, there I said it. I am a Cruise Line Fan!
