Post-Convention Bump: Obama Pulls Ahead of Romney in Most Recent Polls

President Barack Obama appears to have gained a slight lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in three battleground states, according to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist University poll released on Thursday. Obama now has a lead among likely voters in Florida, Virginia, and Ohio.

Friday's poll is a turnaround from the Purple Poll published on Aug. 15. That poll had shown Romney with a slight lead in all three states.

Here are some of the key numbers to emerge from new polling released this week.

49: The percentage of likely voters who now say they will be voting for Obama in November in both Florida and Virginia, according to the NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist University poll. Romney is currently garnering 44 percent of the vote in those two states.

7: The percentage gap between the two candidates in Ohio. Obama currently leads Romney 50 percent to 43 percent in that state.

50: The president's approval rating has climbed to 50 percent in Ohio, mirroring the percentage of likely voters who say they will choose him come election day. His approval ratings in Florida and Virginia stand at 49 percent.

7: The percentage gap between the two candidates nationally, according to a Reuters/IPSO poll released on Thursday. In that poll, Obama garnered 48 percent of the vote to Romney's 41 percent.

5: The latest WMUR Granite State poll published by the University of New Hampshire on Thursday showed Obama with a lead of 5 percentage points over Romney in that state. The two men polled at 45 percent and 40 percent, respectively.

3: The percentage gap between the two candidates in a national poll published by the New York Times/CBS News on Friday.

16: The percentage gap between the two candidates' support among women voters in Ohio. According to the NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist University poll, President Obama holds a 16-point lead over Romney among women voters in Ohio, a 14-point lead among women voters in Virginia, and a 12-point lead among women voters in Florida.

19: The number of days, as of Friday, before the first presidential debate on Oct. 3.
