Taking A Stand: How To Keep Your Commitment To God and Yourself

One of the hardest things that you could commit to doing is hearing God?s voice more than anyone else. Sometimes what seems illogical is actual something very powerful. In learning and growing I realize that the spirit of control is stronger than ever in the body of christ.

Everyone wants to be first to the red light, first to know the latest news and to be noted as the prophet. People want to be responsible for finding others, and forget that finding ourselves is not a one occasion experience.

In the church, it has always been that ordination was by God. In my personal life, I have elected to hear God?s voice and do away with tradition. Tradition is not saving souls, or the lost as people call it, instead it is making gifted people look lost. And if you are going to create a tradition, call it that but do not teach it as doctrine.

I encourage?you today to focus in?on the voice of God and not simply relying on what you may have been taught. I was taught that spiritual leaders are promoted within the church, and that someone (the pastor or his men), had to approve and acknowledge your gift before you were ready to be elevated. I remember being young, and hearing members of the church who sat in the pews when it was time for them to go out and to minister but someone said that they weren?t ready.

Now, this truth does not replace having counsel, leadership or fellowship with like-minded ministers who can give you a dose of the truth to help correct you and keep you grounded at times, however people are staying in the pulpit when they should sit down, and others are intimidated by the process instead of choosing God?s voice and living their absolute best life.

If you are reading this and you do not attend church, consider this an analogy because this happens in your career and even at home. My question is, if you believe yourself to be equipped, and useful who is stopping you? If the answer is anyone but God (which can happen), I want to charge you today to reexamine your calling, and your purpose. Are you fulfilling it? Are you on the sidelines? Are you so brainwashed and indoctrinated that you can?t hear past the preacher?

As I say in one of my leadership poems, ?Leaders have followers.? Pastors are not addressing sexual abuse and other issues (like Hollywood) because they are afraid of offending and losing members, and possibly financial support. However, the truth is if you are a leader, you don?t have to fear correcting someone who you say you love. As a parent we understand this. There is a difference between abuse and correction; abuse will often leave a relationship broken. When a bone is broken, even when it heals it does not heal without a doctor being able to notice that it was once broken.

Correction on the other hand can prevent anything from breaking. Relationships are often compromised because people are not honest, walking in fear instead of love, and using the wrong words to describe where they really are and what they really believe.

Understand, I am not talking about your pastor however if you choose to identify yourself with a cause or ministry make sure that it allows you the opportunity to grow and develop. Once you grow and develop to a certain level, you will realize that you can?t keep it all in, and God will show you how to walk in your divine purpose.

It takes strength to become a leader. People will have thoughts of you that are inaccurate, and some will be jealous. Some will not know why they don?t ?like? you, or want to see you go to the next level.

During this season of my Journey To Love, I am dealing with my choice to take a stand and to take authority over thoughts that I don?t have to receive by way of individuals who may have good intentions.

I am committed to living my best life, and doing so unapologetically. I wish you the same strength in your Journey To Love.
